The static keyword does two completely different things. Applied to a local variable (one inside of a function), it modifies the lifetime (“duration”) of the variable so that it persists for as long as the program does, and does not disappear between invocations of the function. Applied to a variable outside of a function (or to a function) static limits the scope to the current file.

At fun republic mall. One of the two most used hangout joints at Coimbatore. (at Fun Republic Mall)

This weekend started little early on Friday night itself.
Got to watch Settai, the Tamil version of Delhi Belly. Almost same as the original except for the conversation of A to U certification and those enforced song sequences. However, it isn’t scale up to the original. Watchable and the second half seemed better than the first.
By the way, Fun cinemas still doesn’t want to improvise. This time I could hear lot of people complaining about the efficiency of their staff. The theater is great. But, when you’re out, ticket and snacks counters are unbelievable.
Later that night got to watch the Sherlock TV series at last. It was pending for a long time. Worth watching and I am already done with the first season and it’s still Saturday noon. Guess, I’ll be done by this weekend.
It’s so clever and very much engaging. Cumberbatch and Freeman are excellent on screen and I can’t wait to watch Cumberbatch as Khan in upcoming Star Trek sequel. Another reason not to miss Into the darkness.
I have always wanted to read the book. Even it’s on my Nexus but never had a chance. Only Holmes I was familiar with was Downey Jr., Ritchie’s version. Cumberbatch is no less even he tops the list. I should read the book this time without fail.
TNEB deserves a special mention whenever we talk about weekends. What exactly you do when you’re home without power? Can’t sleep, no TV or internet? You write about your weekend! So, this post is dedicated to our beloved TNEB.
That’s all folks!

I’ve always wanted to rant about my weekends. This time, I made it. I am this lazy boy who sleeps all day and gets out of home at dusk on weekends. It’s a constant thing in all my weekends.
Movies
I watch a lot of movies (and few sitcoms) these days. Last year it was 100 and I’ve already around 30 movies in my movies list for this year. So, can I add movie buff to my bio or I should still work on it more?
This weekend I got to see Samar, Death Race 3, few episodes of Two and a half men and Vishwaroopam. Last one was worth watching and Kamal put in a lot of effort into it! So many witty dialogues and I was laughing most of the time.
“அமெரிக்கால மழை பெய்யாது.. அவ்ளதான?”
“We don’t crucify our God, We dunk Him in the sea!”
-Dr. Nirupama from Vishwaroopam
Just one thing Folks! I guess it’d be a bliss to sleep in a movie theater with air conditioning and cushion chair. But, I can’t appreciate it if I could hear you snoring whenever there is a silent scene in the movie! :(
Fun Cinemas vs SPI
I watched Vishwaroopam at Fun Cinemas and I’ve got a lot of complaints. Your movie hall was great. Comfy seats, taller screen and great audio. But, there is a lot of room for improvement! First, I had to stand in a queue for 10 mins to collect the tickets I had booked online to avoid standing in a queue!
Your process is flawed. I never stood in a queue at Brookefields mall where I’ve been watching movies for more than an year. They have this kiosk where I type my code and get my tickets without any human intervention and it all happens within seconds! Your online booking process is good though there could be more detail on the SMS though such as seat nos (you didn’t think of it, really?).
Another thing I was wondering was the ads played during intermission were all in Hindi. Anyone knows why!?
Parking Nightmares
Now, there is this annoying thing in my city. Parking! My total parking fees for this weekend beats my dinner cost! I am talking about a two wheeler(my Poor Platina), thank heavens I don’t have a car! :-( Not fair guys! Really not fair! Private malls, Government airport and everybody does it! There is a competitor parking just at the next site to Fun Republic mall which charges half of the Mall’s parking fee.
Twitter, Tumblr and Pinterest
I am thinking about giving twitter more time and other sites a try. Tumblr has my attention and here I am writing after a very long time. Long ago, I visited pinterest once and one friend recommends it highly. So, I’ll be pinning for a while. See, what I repinned recently.
Saw this hash tag on twitter saying that Akshay has crossed 2000 crores. I couldn’t resist wondering how exactly these calculations happen and by whom. Namastey London is my favorite among his and I don’t see a reason why he choose movies like Khiladi 786 (why did I watch that??).
Wow, that’s a page of text now and there’s still one more day to this weekend. Now I see why I don’t write much. I complaint a lot! Let’s see how it goes tomorrow. Have a great weekend and if you’ve got time try Google’s Mapathon!
